New Industrial Chic Mixed-use Development in Woodstock
The new and edgy industrial mixed-use development in Woodstock, Cape Town, is to play on the area’s already firmly established reputation as a chic and up and coming area. 10 on Searle is set to go ahead with its residential unit sales amidst great interest from the market.
As this is a redevelopment of an existing office block, creating a mix of retail, office and upmarket residential space, it is drawing attention from all corners of the market. The developers envision the building of being a modern lifestyle building, eventually becoming a landmark in the area.
With three residential floors added to the building, it is set back to allow for even greater terrace space, as well as accommodation the developer’s specifications for redeveloping the building.
Great Interest from Commercial Entities
Woodstock is already incredibly popular among commercial companies looking to tap into the high concentration of graduates and students in the area. With a professional labour pool to tap into right on their doorsteps, commercial entities continue to flock to Woodstock.
This new development is only one of a bevy of new projects springing up, attracting quality tenants looking for prime office space in a buzzing suburb of Cape Town. The architect responsible for 10 on Searle’s conversion, Michael Dennett of DV8 Architects, is also well known for their philosophy that architectural design should never ‘be safe, stagnant or sterile’.
As Woodstock has evolved over the years, with many young professional staking advantage of the still affordable prices of Victorian semi-detached cottages, many trendy restaurants and innovative media and other businesses and shops have cropped up. The use of cleverly converted and revamped warehouses and abandoned buildings continue to supply the high demand of A grade properties to commercial tenants, somehow always playing catch-up to the never-ceasing demand.
